Hajj Statistics
CDSI , in carrying out its Hajj program for within Kingdom's pilgrims, relies on the comprehensive enumeration method for all individuals coming to Makkah Al-Mokarramah for performing Hajj. This is achieved through CDSI's Hajj Statistics Centers stationed at all entrances of Makkah Al-Mokarramah. The enumeration begins on 1/12 and ends at 6:00 o'clock in the evening of the ninth day of the month of Dhu-Al-Hijjah.
The Hajj program aims at providing comprehensive and accurate data on the number of pilgrims by means of transportation and date of arrival to be utilized in preparation of plans and programs required for securing around the clock services for pilgrims.
The within Kingdom's pilgrims are enumerated by CDSI personnel through a certain mechanism, whereby CDSI's personnel, stationed at the Support Centers distributed usually at Ihram locations as well as at other places in the cities of Jeddah, Al-Taif, and Al-Madinal Al-Monawarah, give the driver of each vehicle carrying pilgrims a card showing the type of vehicle, number of pilgrims by gender and nationality, and the driver, in turn, delivers such a card to CDSI's personnel stationed at the Main Centers, where such cards are processed and daily reports are obtained.
Regarding the pilgrims from among the residents of Makkah city, CDSI estimates the number of those pilgrims through occasional sample field studies. This estimated number of Makkah's pilgrims is added to the number of pilgrims from all other areas of the Kingdom to come up with the total number of within Kingdom's pilgrims.
Concerning the pilgrims coming from abroad, they are registered by the General Directorate of Passports, and then provided to CDSI classified by gender, nationality, means of transportation and date of arrival.
CDSI is keen to provide government officials, planners, researchers and scholars with a clear picture about the number of pilgrims classified by gender, nationality, means of transportation and date of arrival, with the aim of utilizing these comprehensive data in offering integrated services to pilgrims, which are founded on an accurate, scientific and comprehensive basis. |
